Eresos – Sigri – Tavari

Eresos - Sigri - Tavari

Surrounded by barren volcanic mountains, the plain of Eressos gleams like a land of great hope. A cool oasis and a landscape full of contradictions, where there is a blend of blue and green and a blend between the past and present. The largest town in this region is Eressos, the winter residence of the islanders.

In the summer, things come alive in Scala, Eressos, a modern summer resort organised in such a way so as to satisfy even the most highest of demands. Large hotel units, stretching beaches ideal for beach sports and games in the sand, seaside quaint taverns and cafιs for tasty treats and relaxing and night-spots for really letting yourself go.

The region is ideally suited for various excursions and nature quests. The Archaeological Museum of Eressos, the historical site of Vigla with its remains of the ancient castle, the Monastery of Ipsillo with its extraordinary view of virtually the entire island and the seaside town of Sigriou with its traditional fish-taverns, are just a few of the sites not to be missed.

Do not forget to visit the park of the Petrified Forest. A unique and rare natural monument, of great historical and research value, it captivates any visitor with its wild beauty and strange appeal.
